The prestigious award was presented on Saturday night at the Grand Arena in Accra.

This marks Black Sherif’s second Artiste of the Year triumph after first winning the coveted title at the 24th edition of the awards in 2023.

Industry observers widely anticipated the victory following what many have described as one of the most successful years by a Ghanaian artiste on global streaming platforms. His critically acclaimed 2025 album, Iron Boy, played a significant role in his remarkable achievements.

On Spotify, Black Sherif currently records approximately 2.6 million monthly listeners, while Iron Boy debuted at Number 6 on the UK Top Debut Albums chart. He also became Ghana’s most-streamed artiste for the third consecutive year, occupying nine of the top 10 songs on the platform.

His dominance extended to Apple Music, where he held all top 12 song positions. The album remained at Number One for 21 consecutive weeks, while “Sacrifice” emerged as the year’s top-performing song.

Internationally, Iron Boy also secured the Number 10 position on the Billboard World Albums chart, further strengthening Black Sherif’s growing global reputation.

The artiste additionally surpassed 100 million streams on Boomplay and currently boasts more than 1.11 billion plays on Audiomack, alongside 3.01 million listeners and 5.83 million followers on the platform.

Beyond winning the topmost award of the night, Black Sherif also claimed Best Hiphop Song of the Year, Best Afro Pop Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Organised by Charterhouse Productions, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains Ghana’s most prestigious music awards scheme, recognising excellence across multiple genres while assessing artistes based on streaming performance, airplay, stage performances and overall industry influence.

Despite concerns surrounding this year’s build-up and a relatively quieter atmosphere compared to previous editions, TGMA 27 still delivered an evening filled with music, fashion and celebration. The red carpet, themed “A Touch of Glitter,” showcased celebrities in stylish outfits as they interacted with fans and the media.

The main ceremony opened with a performance by Enam, while hosting duties were handled by Naa Ashorkor and Giovani Caleb.

Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has once again been crowned Artiste of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards following an exceptional year of musical dominance both locally and internationally.
