A group of Ghanaian football supporters planning to travel to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have reportedly faced significant visa rejections from the US Embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation has generated concern among football enthusiasts and sports stakeholders in Ghana, as many supporters fear they may miss the opportunity to cheer on the Black Stars during the global tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster and sports journalist Sannie Daara disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Monday, May 11. According to him, a group submitted visa applications on behalf of 150 Ghanaian supporters intending to travel to the United States for the World Cup. However, only three applicants were reportedly granted visas, despite claims that all requirements outlined by the US Embassy had been fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reacting to the outcome, Daara expressed disappointment, stating: \u201cA group sent 150 Ghanaian supporters to the US Embassy for World Cup visas. Only 3 people got approved despite meeting all the requirements set by the US Embassy. At this rate, the Black Stars may have more players in America than Ghanaian fans in the stands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further used a football analogy to describe the situation, adding that the embassy \u201cplayed a low block, counter-pressed, and eliminated 147 supporters before kick-off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
